Fear is Russia’s most successful export. The Kremlin does not need us to believe in it—it is enough for us to lose trust in ourselves, one another and our allies. For years, discussions about disinformation in Lithuania were largely confined to experts, institutions and people already engaged with the subject. Our aim was to take it beyond expert circles and make it relevant to a wider audience. Written by Bosanova’s managing partner Vytautas Matulevičius, "Fear Offensive" (orig. Baimės frontas) is one of the first Lithuanian popular non-fiction books about Russia’s information war against Lithuania and the West. It explores not only the lies spread by the Kremlin, but also what happens when they take root in our minds—how fear affects public well-being, political decisions, the economy, and trust in our own country and allies.
Goals
- Take the subject of disinformation beyond the bubble of experts and institutions
- Make a complex national security issue understandable and relevant to the wider public
- Encourage public discussion about fear, propaganda and societal resilience
